Competitive Road Cycling in Pittsburgh
In Pittsburgh, the Allegheny Cycling Association is the hub of sanctioned bicycle racing. In the summer of 2007, the Allegheny Cycling Association hosted forty-three races at the Oval on Washington Boulevard. Oscar Swan of Pittsburgh Masters Velo organized a dozen evenings of racing at the oval with two to four different types of races per night.
In addition, several other race promoters (Beaver Valley Velo, Don Mosites/Trek, Trizilla) hosted an additional 7 local races throughout the summer in other locations. (Aliquippa, Mingo Valley, Waynesburg, Jennerstown).
