Competitive Road Cycling in Pittsburgh
In Pittsburgh, the Allegheny Cycling Association is the hub of sanctioned bicycle racing. In the summer of 2008, the Allegheny Cycling Association hosted 55 races at the Oval on Washington Boulevard. Oscar Swan of Pittsburgh Masters Velo organized 13 evenings of racing at the oval, featuring time trialing and track racing. In addition, several other race promoters (Pro Bikes, Don Mosites/Trek, Big Bang Bikes) hosted an additional 7 local races throughout the summer in other locations. (Aliquippa, Mingo Valley, Butler County).
Pittsburgh is an exciting place to race, and there are more races each season!
In order to race, riders must all hold a USA Cycling racing license. More information on USA Cycling, as well as race results, standings, and more information, can be found at the USA Cycling website.

Cyclocross Racing in Pittsburgh
In addition to road racing, the muddier side of bike racing is well-suited to this region in Fall and Winter. Cyclocross is rapidly gaining popularity, and there are also many Cyclocross events in this area!
