Paceline & Cornering Seminar
By Coach Suzanne • Nov 26th, 2007 • Category: NewsSunday afternoon was sunny & not too cool. About 10 women (& one guy) came to the track on Washington Blvd. to practice pacelining, drafting & cornering. For many of the participants, it was a new experience.
We spent 15 minutes with a demonstration of safety skills, then about 30 minutes practicing pacelining in 2 different groups.
After experience a paceline for the first time, questions popped up (where should my hands me? Where should I be looking? How do you keep from accordioning in the turns?)
Then we spent another 30 minutes or so practicing cornering in the midfield area, followed by a figure 8 paceline with 2 right turns and 2 left turns around the track.
Everyone seemed to have a good time, and is enthusiastic for more practice.
